Planar Overview
Lendahnna is the Material Plane. The land the Gods forged from The Elemental Planes and where Mortals reside. It is here where people live their lives, adventure, gain power, and at times battle for their ideals and those who help empower them from beyond.
Geography
The world of Lendahnna possess a wide range of biomes, regions, and environments. In ages long ago before and during portions of The War it was a planet of an equatorial supercontinent that spanned the earth. However, over time various portions have broken and shattered from the battles and efforts of Gods upon the material plane. Listed below are the various major continents and regions. This is not an exhaustive list of all the places in Lendahnna but covers a large portion of what would be known in the present day, After The Relinquent.
Continents
Fersclen
A large peninsula area connected to the frozen north. Fersclen is a collection of moderate to cold temperatures, a decent amount of rain, and varied amount of environments. Hills, mountains, lakes, rivers, and thick timber woods dot various parts of the continent. Some colloquially refer to Fersclen as ‘The Old Countries’, due to the smattering of countries that heralded the start of The Age Of Heroes after The War. Modern Kingdoms, government, and the melting pot of civilizations started to take hold truly here in Fersclen. The most powerful of these nations being Gern.
Renmorelli’s Hold
A now solitary piece of land from the original Ahnna Umalte, Renmorelli’s Hold is an island continent with a wide range of environments and few civilizations. Noldo, and it’s capital of Noldorin, is the largest country present here. The northern expanse are dry savannah’s and a portion of desert. The middle portions have deep hills and timber. The southern portions become swampy, marshy, and at times bleed into the coves and sea. Named after an old Archmagi the Hold is home to various strange beast and magic.
Ahnna Umalte
The largest of Lendahnna’s continents. Previously circumnavigating the entirety of the plane, now Ahnna Umalte is referred to as the land south of the Plains of Progress and up to the south-eastern side of Oruk’s Mir. Stretching over portions of the peaks to the desert that houses the Moh’Drun Empire, and the Independent city-state of Tarruset. Most of the Umalte is a large jungle environment where the first Mortals found their place in Lendahnna. The old Elven Kingdoms are still here, the main being Nostandor and their capital of My’thesera. A few more temperate environments grace the eastern regions and near the mountains that guard the Plains of Progress. To the northern borders below Oruk’s Mir, is a very heavy swamp and delta region. Ahnna Umalte is words in the old language for God’s Belt.
Oruk’s Mir
Previously the name just for the Mountain range on the Ahnna Umalte, after The Relinquent it is now the continental name for the Northern portion of the range and the surrounding area, having been discovered to be a separate land mass. North of the Mir is a now severed and unnamed continent, some of the locals refer to it as The Lost Land. Most of Oruk’s Mir is terribly cold and frigid, even not in the mountains themselves. A hinterland resides to the northeast and northwest. To the far northwest is a flat tundra. The mountains themselves are home to various creatures and civilizations, though none of them large and most of them very dangerous. The Moh’Drun Empire does hold the southern area of Oruk’s Mir in their borders. The capital of Din Moh’Drun and it’s dwarven citadel nestled into the base of the mountainous continent.
Plains of Progress
A section of the Ahnna Umalte that has since been deemed a separate continent after The Relinquent. Most of this area is a flat grassland. A few forests and other features stretch over portions of the region. The main presence in the Plains of Progress is the nation and capital of Andurl.
Umalte Phraki
Previously a sliver of land attached to the Ahnna Umalte it has fractured away. This long sliver of land is of varying temperatures. The southern portion would have jungles and forests. The northern portions having small mountains and colder environments. Much of this area has had the civilizations and Mortal presence lessened after The Relinquent.
Xev’Thok
Until recently this continent was unknown to most of Lendahnna. However, shortly before The Relinquent the mass was discovered by the wider Mortals of Lendahnna. Most of the mass is a dry and red desert. It is a dangerous badlands. The two landmasses are split by a shale and rigid mountain portion. Some volcanos and other oddities fill the space. Most of the land is ruled and occupied by tribes of various barbaric groups vying for power.
Klera & Lamsu
This relatively recently discovered continent was occupied by Andurl before it’s revolution. The island chain and peninsula now home to a number of smaller nations. A great deal of sea space, jungles, and mountains. It is most prominently home to the city-state of Kamen, who in the time during and after The Relinquent has become a haven for travelers.
Avaricadre
This land mass was only discovered during The Relinquent and is the battleground for a large portion of the Gods disputes. Few have travelled there, those that have noting it soot and snow covered landscape. A volcano that towers well into the horizon and the mountains that surround it. Other than a small city on the northern shore, it is largely inhabited by Mortals and is instead home to beasts and other planar denizens.
Moon
Othadus is Lendahnna’s first and only moon. It takes up close to a gold piece held at arm’s length section of the night sky. Illuminated greatly and devoted to Celestian. Little is known about the celestial body, however it does provide a great deal of light. Typically going through it’s waxing and waning phases twice per season.
Major Civilizations
Countries
These are not all of the Countries of Lendahnna but a few of large importance to give you a general idea for what variation the land of the Mortals holds.
Andurl
The largest modern nation. Andurl is both a wide spread nation and a sprawling metropolis capital city. The nation is a republic governed by a multi-party city and cycles of rule. The nation has existed for several thousands of years and is one of the first Human settled capitals. However, in it’s current form it has been as such for nearly a millennia, with the cities metropolis existing about half as long. Outside of the city the trade and exploration hub has founded and claimed land the world over. During The Relinquent the city became a bastion for Mortals and protected many from the ravagings of the Gods’ feud. The city itself is filled with factions and people vying for power and every one of the Planes of Existence likely has a foreign denizen with it’s eye on the country.
Moh’Drun Empire
The Moh’Drun Empire is an old nation in the southern edge of Oruk’s Mir, with it’s territory speading to the desert further south. Originally founded by dwarves the Empire now welcomes folks the world over. During The War the nation gain power from it’s various craftsfolks, and afterwards spread to a powerful military force. While the territory of their land is not as wide spread as Nostandor or Andurl, the Empire is a dangerous and capable nation. During The Relinquent it also became a haven and hub for mercenaries trying to put themselves up for hire not just to Mortals but also other planar entities and the Gods.
Gern
The most powerful of ‘The Old Countries’. Gern is a monarchy nestled into the center of Fersclen. It is unknown just how long Gern as existed as it’s records date back to The War but a large deal of the dates are lost to time. It is here that the Age of Heroes originated. While the ruling family has not been the same in power for the entirety of it’s existence, it holds great respect regardless. While all of the nations in Fersclen have become outpaced by those the world over. Old power and tradition still do well in the borders of Gern.
Noldo
A mageocracy on the eastern edge of Renmorelli’s Hold. This relatively younger nation is filled with a great deal of magically inclined individuals. That said they are out of place on the continent. As much of their neighbors are smaller nations and civilizations with wilderness and the wilds as their focus. Noldo was originally founded by a council of Elves, Gnomes, and other long lived ancestries. After The Relinquent their policies have shifted to attempt to rediscover portions of the continent and work closer with their neighbors.
Nostandor
Nostandor is the oldest nation in Lendahnna. Here in the heart of the Ahnna Umalte, deep within the rainforests and jungles of continent. This nation was founded by the Elves long before The War. It is unknown how long the nation of Nostandor has even stood. It is a theocratic state ruled by some of the oldest churches in Lendahnna.
Independent City States
These are a few of the larger independent city states across Lendahnna this is not an exhaustive list.
Kamen
The city-state of Kamen was lost to time for a bit, until around a century ago when it rose from the depths of the lake it rests on. Now rested under the rule of the local leaders and esteemed mage Tyrion Gnaeus. The city became a bastion in the time of The Relinquent, a gathering space for heroes to assist in the region to help civilians.
Tarruset
Tarruset is a large city-state nestled into the edges of the nearby plateaus on the southern edge of the Umalte desert. The city-state is ruled by a sovereign merchant lord, Maadu Tezffaye. Tarruset is a bastion for travelers, merchants, and mercenaries alike. One of the few truly habital places among the desert and dunes. The gem of a city has become a powerful broker of power and several centuries ago won it’s independence from the Moh’Drun Empire via a valiant collaboration of heroes and adventurers. Who handed the rule over to Maadu Tezffaye some years later.
Twenty Towers
Across Lendahnna there are twenty towers of great magical power. Each residing along Leylines and granting their attuned owner unmatched magical potentials. The rulers of these towers become Archmagi. Nearly a century ago one of the towers was destroyed in southern Klera. However the magic remains as a wellspring in the region and is considered an unclaimable tower. The towers take on characteristics chosen by their ruler and the archmagi hold great magical and political pull in their areas. Most are secluded individuals and lock the towers to all others. Some are bastions of study. All are important. Given the absence of a physical tower, the title for twentieth archmagi is a hot topic of debate even a century later among the magical practitioners of the world. Some believe the mage of Kamen should hold the title, a few of the better mages in Andurl claim the title, and in recent years a few in both Tarruset and Noldorin also claim the rank.
Summarized History and Myth
This is a very brief overview of Lendahnna’s history and myth. This is not comprehensive and comes from the perception of Mortals and those living in Lendahnna, not from the full truth overview.
Creation
Long ago the Gods pulled from The Elemental Planes to form Lendahnna. Then placing Mortals upon the land. The first being the Elves and other long last ancestries. After an unknown period of peace and creation, they feuded with those of The Lower Planes.
The War
For an untold amount of time a great war, for the control of Lendahnna entities from all of the Planes of Existence vying for power. Some of the Gods being allies, others being enemies. Most being opposed to Demons and Devils. Eventually a Treaty was signed and the more powerful entities would not interact directly with the plane anymore. The signing of this treaty would be the start of the recorded history as Mortals now have it.
The Age of Heroes
The primary age that followed is the Age of Heroes. A time frame in which heroes fought against the untamed and recently ravaged wilds of Lendahnna helping give hold to nations and places. This time lasted up somewhere between the year 2000 and 2500, but varies depending on location.
The Age of Civilization
After the Age of Heroes, came the Age of Civilization. During this period most of Lendahnna became explored and conquered. This time started to see the death of heroes as a need in the world. This would hold until around the year 3100 when the Gods fought again.
The Relinquent
This is a period where the Gods broke The Treaty fighting with one another. The material plane suffered greatly. The time is named as such because afterwards the deities suffered losses and also signed a new treaty to once again leave the material plane alone. It is also around this time that the Gods started to communicate and appear to their followers differently. With the world ravaged over a short 30 year period, we reach present day. The wilds more wild and creatures from this plane and others searching to make a new foothold in Lendahnna.
