Overview
The Rak’tpan Mesas are one of the most unique regions in Lendahnna. They are both deadly, and beautiful. A winding badlands, wind blown river stretches, and canyon wall villages are all staples of the biome. A few Ancestries make their homes long ago in the Rak’tpan Mesas, and most of their myth states that the Mesas themselves were formed from the pull of the Gods on the plane during its creation.
Geography
The Mesas are home to a drastive and varied geographic state. The large pillars of red rock and sandstone tower at points sometimes over a mile into the sky. Some are thin and spindly, others are wide and can hold entire cities on their tops.
Where the canyons stretch out they form maze like paths that can be easy to get lost in. Not to mention the wind blasts through at high warmth making it a dry and parched landscape.
Sometimes there are breaks in the Mesa where underground rivers and collections from the occasional flash floods gather. These locations becoming hotbeds for Mortals and creatures alike.
The few civilizations that rest within the Mesas either are against the rockface themselves elevated, or in cavern systems.

Climate
General
While not nearly as hot as the Huvzalte Desert, somehow it can be drier. The wind is much worse through the winding rocks causing the heat to pull at the moisture in the air.
The evening does not get as cold as the desert. However, storms impact the Mesas more. This results in flash floods and other dangers that make it hard to travel and navigate in the region.
Seasons
The seasons do impact the Mesas to some extent. Spring and Fall bring more storms and rain, the Summer is drier, and the Winter makes for a very cold wind chill.

Barren’s Rest
While there are many small villages and settlements within the Rak’tpan Mesas, there are not many large cities due to the harsh environment and space. Barren’s Rest is the sole exception. On the southside of the Mesas, nearly into the grasslands themselves is a decent sized settlement. It is home to travelers, but more importantly mercenaries. The Moh’Drun Empire rarely pays head to the events in Barren’s Rest and it serves as a haven for the more free folk of the area. While technically ruled by the Empire, most report to a few organizations and clans within the city.
