The Cult of the Ebon Chalice

The Cult of the Ebon Chalice was born in Tarruset shortly after The Relinquent as hold overs from those who sided with the more chaotic sides of the Planes of Existence during the strife. What started small eventually grew and held rituals and efforts in the Rak’tpan Mesas.

By the time that Bashar Tawba would be a member they were progressing well and finding a wider purchase in the area. By the time that he was a Scion there were plots to upend the political and religious standards in Tarruset.

While unsure what came of the ritual that cause his change of heart, Bashar Tawba has heard that a few years following his absence, a few of the local mercenary guilds banded together and wiped out the cult.

The Church of Fharlanghn

The Church itself is very lax in terms of proper rituals and worship. Most of the devotees being travelers or merchants themselves. Most of the worship occurring is clerics and acolytes going to caravans and skiff launches to bless their journeys. This keeps the church well supported and widely worshipped. The teachings Bashar Tawba would have studied to find his ideals of a new dawn would have been old and seen little use.

Ultimately resulting in the church recommending he take his worship unto himself and see Fharlanghn’s path as something else. A different kind of journey.

The Voice of the Horizon

Beyond the first and only time that Bashar Tawba has heard Fharlanghn’s voice it was not an old or booming voice. Cordial and light. Like a welcoming individual in a warm tavern. Since then any worship that would lead to guidance from the deity would have come in the form of the sense of words being answered, some sort of other signifiers, or communication. Bashar Tawba has not heard the direct voice of Fharlanghn since that first night. Though many signs of comfort has come since then.

Morrison’s Changes

Bashar Tawba would be aware that Morrison has gotten progressively more ambitious. These signs started a few years back. What typically would have been the standard cycle of going out pulling a few jobs in the region, coming home, living and maintaining with local work; turned into bigger jobs abroad. Making a name for themselves, needing to lay low when home and occasionally losing people. Which was always a risk but one he seemed more willing to take.

At first, this was probably because the gang was getting bigger with wider skill sets. More money and resources were needed to keep everyone afloat and happy. Therefore was not a big issue to Bashar Tawba as long as he heeded caution when he could.

Within the last two years Osgar ‘Morri’ Morrison has started to speak on hitting ‘the big one’ and making their way out of the region to brighter future. This likely would have appealed to Bashar Tawba’s teachings. The big one came once a year back and ultimately resulted in Eskander Iirsch’s death during an escape route through Umalte’s Waste.

Within the last six months and the preparation of his recent planned ‘big one’. Things have been tense. This is still Bashar’s family, but there are signs that Morrison is riding a fine line. But there is still plenty of love and care being given on the man’s behalf. Though it is obvious that Morrison works with Lone Mist and Sasan Nolvhuuf on occasion when they are back in Tarruset on downtime.

Morrison’s Plan

The plan has been in motion for the last 4 months. Morrison caught word through his connections of a very secret shipment making its way from overseas, into Kholo and then up to Tarruset to be delivered to various anonymous individuals in the city.

In preparation, the members have spent time getting a few new allies, resulting in the hiring of Dolgarn and Dariggs Strohgheim and very recently Tardor Despt. Some arcane bombs have been acquired, as well as mounts. Heists to copy the routes paths and timings have occurred.

On the day of the plan will be to drop some rocks using the bombs to cut off the route as they round the edges of the Rak’tpan Mesas and the Huvzalte Desert. Forcing the skiffs and caravans into a choke point. Here the bombing team will drop down and take care of the drivers and the other ambush team will approach from behind. The goal is to eliminate any guards, take the shipments, and then flee for an outpost stretch to the southeast of Tarruset. All hands are on deck for this one. The main reason for hitting the caravan is it is claimed to have a gem worth upwards of fifty thousand gold.
